#ArabianKatufestivaali 2014

Another Arabia Street Festival is behind me and I must say, THIS WAS THE BEST I had so far. The reason was the weather, which was awesome! This time I made a playground for my characters around a wastebasket. Thank you all for coming to speak with me, it was lots of fun! Hopefully I see you next year!

In a box - Day 12, my installation

So you may wonder, what is my installation all about? It is NOT a peaceful installation. Well, as inspiration I had the game Far cry 3. In the beginning of the game you are supposed to find your way out of a camp on a tropical island where you and your friends are being held imprisoned.

With the installation I want to say, "some people may be evil but nature will always win". And as you can see, nature has started to send it´s cleaning crew. Just by the four-leaf clover logo new plants are sticking up from the soil.

Röökitauko

Röökitauko is slang for cigarette break in Finnish. Rööki= a smoke, Tauko= break. Every day you learn something new.

From father to son

To write tags and do pieces on public property has been done since the dawn of man. Some of you like it, some of you don´t. I say, as long as you have a reason for what you do and understand your aesthetic responsibility, go for it, go out, do graffiti, do street art, make people have an opinion!

This installation is (hopefully still) on display in Suvilahti, Helsinki, at the skate park. In Suvilahti you can find the largest legal graffiti walls in Finland. This installation may also be the smallest piece made by the smallest people ever there, or maybe anywhere.

Tom Bombadil of Finland

A few weeks ago I visited Kemijärvi, Lapland. Which is a lovely place with lovely people. It was the second I visited Kemijärvi but the first time I did not place an installation there. So now it is done. For more pictures, please visit my flickr page.


The installation name is probably known to many of you but I can explain it in a few words. The name is a combination of two famous characters, one from J.R.R. Tolkien´s book "Lord of the Rings", Tom Bombadil who is the Master of wood, water and hill. And the other one, a gay icon and pseudonym created by Finnish artist Touko Laaksonen, called Tom of Finland.

The natural things you do

Throwing a stone or some other object down from a high place is probably as natural as shouting in a tunnel. This is a tribute to the unexplained things we do.

The character used in this installation is not made by me. A group of guys gave this character to me after a workshop and I promissed to use it in a installation somewhere. This is where I left it. In a lookout tower in Finström, Åland.

This installation might remind you of the installation I made in Sweden a few months ago, and yes. I loved the idea and wanted to make another one with a similar style.

Reversed roles

This summer I participated in three exhibitions. Here are the first pictures from Ars Kärsämäki. The installation´s name is "Reversed roles". With the installation I wanted to remind people that we still do not live in a gender equal society.

The bus stop pt. 5

Anders Skage
This is Anders, he is 15 years old and loves to hang around town. Today he got in trouble at school because another pupil claimed he had stolen some money. He got really upset and left the school. He always get the blame of everything and he would never steal. Now he is waiting for the bus to anywhere.

Merja and her son Iivari
Merja is a student, she is also a 34 year old single mother. Tonight she is working so that she can pay her landlord the rent. Her son Iivari is often with her because they don´t have any family that can take care of him. All of this is only temporary, explains Merja.

Minimal Street Art - Live in the archipelago

To begin with I want to clarify the term Live. When I do something live it means that I have the dough with me to the spot where I make the characters and then paint them before they have solidified. This often results in poorer quality but it is a very nice experience to do it this way. Especially when it is a warm summer day.
The characters were all painted with only black and white acrylic so the theme is black and white.

With this project I come to the conclusion that I need a smaller brush and a magnifying glass to work on the details. I also think I will use lacquer in the future because the paint does not hold even though I painted the characters with two layers. Once again I had really fun painting and baking. Trip back to the beginning

Hahaa!
Before I will show you my newest piece I got sentimental and wanted to take you down with me!
I present to you! My first installation, once again (but now in english)! =)

Here it is!
When I started the project I only knew I wanted to have a party but I did not know where.

Then I started to make characters and for some reason the first one became a priest

When the characters were painted and done It was time to place them out.
I got alot of good ideas from friends that supported me in doing my thing. So thank you! I love you all!
The reason I started making these small characters was mainly because I wanted to decorate the city with them. There is not much street art in Vaasa.

I asked permission from Dj Nautinto if I could use his music for my installation and he instantly loved the idea.  The music can be heard here Dj Nautino´s webpage.

Behind the main party was a little chillout room with a screen that showed parkour pictures.

Sadly I had to use a flash to get a good picture of the chillout room.
When the event was over I took all the valuables away and left the party like this.
