Minimal Street Art goes to Stockholm

IMG_1721
This year´s most awesome street art related trip is over. I had a great time with local street artists that once again took really good care of me. It all started at Momangen, a nice gallery/hangout place for it´s members and others. At Momangen there was a christmas market where artists sold their art for a good price. There I hooked up with Magnus from Gatukonst.se, which is the biggest website for swedish street art. After checking out all the art and chit-chatting for a while we went out to find a spot for my installation.
Earlier Magnus had asked me if I wanted to contribute to their Advent calendar, "kladdventskalendern" which is a street art hunt. The deal is, every day in December new coordinates are posted on the web, then people get to compete who is first to find the installation/piece and send the pics back to kladdventskalendern.se. The winner gets a price.

The installation I contributed with was a piece I named "The day we ran out of dogs".

A dinner later we left for a hip hop party at Cyklopen which was super fun! Good music, good people and a great feeling in the air!

The day after the super party I jumped on the airplane and returned home to Finland!

From father to son

IMG_1554 To write tags and do pieces on public property has been done since the dawn of man. Some of you like it, some of you don´t. I say, as long as you have a reason for what you do and understand your aesthetic responsibility, go for it, go out, do graffiti, do street art, make people have an opinion!

This installation is (hopefully still) on display in Suvilahti, Helsinki, at the skate park. In Suvilahti you can find the largest legal graffiti walls in Finland. This installation may also be the smallest piece made by the smallest people ever there, or maybe anywhere.

Live in the archipelago

In august I did a live installation, which means I created and painted the characters on the spot. While painting I filmed this little video.

Last weekend I returned to the installation. This is what it looked like now.

Life in miniature - Exhibition pictures

IMG_0986
The exhibition represented everything that I do. I wanted to share the process with you, the visitors of the exhibition. At the exhibition you could see different stages of the process and also make your own characters of play dough. Thank you all for visiting!

Tom Bombadil of Finland

IMG_9710A few weeks ago I visited Kemijärvi, Lapland. Which is a lovely place with lovely people. It was the second I visited Kemijärvi but the first time I did not place an installation there. So now it is done. For more pictures, please visit my flickr page.

The installation name is probably known to many of you but I can explain it in a few words. The name is a combination of two famous characters, one from J.R.R. Tolkien´s book "Lord of the Rings", Tom Bombadil who is the Master of wood, water and hill. And the other one, a gay icon and pseudonym created by Finnish artist Touko Laaksonen, called Tom of Finland.

Arabian katufestivaali 2013

As I did last year I made a live installation at the Arabia street festival i Helsinki. This year the weather was awesome and alot of curious people came and took pics of me working on my installation.

IMG_9491
It is more than nice to just sit on the street and make art, it´s the real deal street art interacting with the urban landscape.

Unfortunatelly I had not time to stay longer than I did, I would have liked to do one more installation at the festival. All in all I was really glad to participate this year too and I hope I get the chance to do it again and again.

And if any of you beautiful people have more pictures or video of me working please send it to me or comment with a link to the pics or/and video. Peace

The natural things you do

Throwing a stone or some other object down from a high place is probably as natural as shouting in a tunnel. This is a tribute to the unexplained things we do.

The character used in this installation is not made by me. A group of guys gave this character to me after a workshop and I promissed to use it in a installation somewhere. This is where I left it. In a lookout tower in Finström, Åland.
Thanks guys, I love the character you made!
